Content Marketing: What is it?

confused with content marketingI’m sure you’ve heard the buzz that you need to get involved in content marketing for your business, no matter what industry you’re in. But what EXACTLY is it?

Today I want to explain to you not only what it is, but also how it will improve your online marketing.

Content marketing is simply using content to tell your story and explain your philosophy as well as what you and your business has to offer. That content then becomes that ‘dangled carrot’ incentive to draw people back to your website, which will hopefully in turn attracts new leads to your business.

So, I want to help you understand exactly do they mean by the word content, and how it becomes that carrot for drawing in new leads for your business?

There are many different ways to distribute your content so Im going to go through them now.

E-mail newsletters and blogs. Just like the one you’re reading right now. We here at KDM use our newsletters to bring you (the reader) back to our website (usually our blogging or products page) by providing snippet’s of information in our newsletter that make you want to click to read more.

We also use our social media to promote our blogs with include links back to our website.

What your newsletters should be doing is creating a great sense of know-like- and-trust with your audience and if you are consistently delivering a newsletter weekly or monthly (whatever schedule you decide on), then this is a great opportunity for people to understand what you and your business has to offer.

The best part is that you don’t have to come up with new content every single time….you can simply recycle content from your blog.

 

Video content. These can be video blogs like this one (click here to see an example), YouTube videos, Facebook videos, Instagram videos etc.

So, videos can become an awesome way of delivering your content. Some examples of great contact can be training and How To videos, showcasing a product or service, educational, funny, the possibilities are endless!

You can easily create a video on your phone, webcam or camera (you already have the equipment and it need not cost a fortune) and you can convey your message a lot easier with video.

 

Webinars are an awesome way to use content to feed the marketing engine of your business. I work with many clients to market webinars as well as set them up, and moderate and Ive seen first hand at how successful they are.

So what we do is we hold a webinar where we can educate people and give them something of value, something they need. What this does is it lets people know again about how much you know about your topic and what kind of value you can bring them. It makes them appreciate the fact that you’re sharing free information and in turn that creates a mindset of your prospects that it develop a sense of reciprocity. Often, this means becoming a customer. So the better quality and more frequently you can send out amazing content as part of your marketing program, the more customers you’re going to end up getting for your business.

So, these are just a few of the many types of content that you can deliver to build loyalty with your customers, to build trust with your prospects, grow your fans, grow your followers, your e-mail subscribers and add variety of your content delivery.
