The other day I was shocked to read a Facebook post from a friend (who is also a female entrepreneur) who woke up to find she no longer had access to her Facebook business page *gulp*
She received an explanation email from the Facebook admin team stating that they had detected an ‘unusual’ amount of activity and so had therefore removed her account for security reasons. She now needed to provide them with proof of who she was by submitting a copy of her drivers license and other various forms if ID before they would re-instate her page *GULP!*
The only amount of ‘unusual’ activity on her page was that she had done a few promoted posts… seriously, is that a good enough reason to be suspended? HELL NO!
Sadly, this is not the first time I’ve heard of business pages being removed or suspended
You work your butt off gaining exposure, building your ‘Likers’ and building loyalty with your tribe and it can all be taken away so quickly if you are not prepared.
So what do you need to do?

So if you look at how you’re structuring your social media marketing, if you’re stopping at the first point where you’ve got your tribe (your tribe are your followers), but you haven’t made a progression to get them onto your email list, the you are not building an asset you can control. The reason I say that Facebook is an asset, is because you need to think of it more as a vehicle… a tool and an extension of your overall marketing system.
Your email list is something that you have in your hand (you have ownership) that if heavens forbid your business got obliterated tomorrow, you would still have your list and can start re-building again the very next day because you can start re-contacting and re-connecting with your tribe straight away.
But, with Facebook (or any other social media platform) it’s different because THEY have the control.
So you want to recognise that social media is awesome, but it’s not an asset you can control. You want to use it as a vehicle, NOT an asset. An email list is an asset. So when your build your social media strategies and your tactics, you want to get them to opt-in to your email list.
